K&F Concept Nano-X Black Mist 1/4 55mm Diffusion Filter

High-quality Black Mist 1/4 K&F Concept Nano-X diffusion filter with a diameter of 55 mm. Made of hardened optical glass and covered with numerous anti-reflective nano-coatings , it provides the highest image quality, free of unwanted glitches, reflections or unsightly dye.

Using diffusion filters on a film set or in a photo studio is intended to give the shot a more organic character. Modern cameras and video camcorders generate an image that may seem unnatural to many viewers. A diffusion filter slightly reduces the contrast of the scene and creates a soft glow around light sources. The tonal range of the image becomes larger, and the transitions between the dark and light parts of the image become smoother. The Black Mist filter also has a slight effect on the exposure, allowing 84% of light to pass through, which should be corrected by choosing a slightly longer exposure time, a wider aperture or changing the ISO to a higher one. Softening the image at 1/4 will compensate for this loss by allowing for a vivid, natural and more analogue image, which is especially beneficial when working on a film set with many artificial light sources.
