Developers

Developers are the core chemistry of analog processing, turning the latent image on film or photographic paper into a visible one. The category is divided into paper developers, film developers and universal developers for both paper and film, with products from Ilford, Foma, Bellini, Kodak and Tetenal.

The film developer you choose affects grain, sharpness and contrast of the negative, while a paper developer determines print tone – warm-tone developers are available too. Note the format: most are liquid concentrates diluted before use, while some are powders for mixing a working solution, such as Kodak Xtol and Dektol.
