Frequently Asked Questions

C41 is the standard color negative film development process. It is designed for all modern color negative films, for example:

  • Kodak Portra, Gold, ColorPlus, Ultramax
  • Fujifilm C200, Superia
  • Lomography Color Negative films
  • Monochrome black and white films, such as Ilford XP2
  • All other color negative films (except slides and classic black and white films)

Automatic development (Noritsu V30): Precise temperature control, consistent results, faster processing. Ideal for standard films and larger volumes.

Manual development (Jobo/Adel): An individual approach to each film, ability to adjust the process and its timing, water wash for longevity. Ideal for experimental projects, old films, or other special cases.

Push processing: The film is developed longer to compensate for underexposure. For example, the ISO 400 film can be shot as ISO 800, 1600, or even 3200.

Pull processing: The film is developed for a shorter time to compensate for overexposure. For example, the ISO 400 film can be shot as ISO 200 or 100.

We offer Push/Pull up to 3 stops for an additional charge of €2.50.

Standard turnaround time is 1-2 business days, but usually it happens within the same day. This includes:

  • Film preparation and processing
  • Development and drying
  • Quality control

For urgent orders we try to be accommodating and offer expedited service - contact us to clarify possibilities.

Yes! We also specialize in problematic film processing:

  • Old films: We offer fog reduction and Push processing (+1 stop for every 10 years)
  • Water-damaged films: Special manual processing with extra care
  • Damaged films: An individual approach to each case

The additional charge for such cases is €2.50. Always consult us before submission.

We develop all popular C41 film formats:

  • 110 - small format film (retro cameras)
  • 135 (35mm) - standard photo films
  • 120 - medium format films (6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9)
  • 127 - retro medium format films
  • 4x5 (9x12cm) - large format sheet films

All formats except 4x5 are available for both automatic and manual development.

No, the base price is only for development. However, we offer convenient packages:

  • Standard package (135): - development + scanning + index print
  • High quality package: - development + HQ scanning + index print
  • Maximum quality package: - development + MAX scanning + index print

For detailed information about scanning see our scanning section.

Water wash is an additional process that significantly improves film storage longevity:

  • Removes chemical residues from the emulsion
  • Prevents color changes over time
  • Reduces film degradation risk
  • Especially important for archival quality projects

Water wash is available only with manual development for an additional €2.50.

Yes, but with conditions. ECN-2 films (Kodak Vision3) can indeed be developed in the C41 process, however:

  • The Remjet layer must be removed before development
  • The colors will be slightly different from standard ECN-2

For better results we recommend our specialized ECN-2 development service.

Developed films are:

  • Carefully dried in a special dust-free environment
  • When specially requested, they can be cut into 6-frame strips (135 films)
  • Placed in archival quality pergamine sleeves

Films can be collected at our store in Riga or delivered. Store films in a cool, dry place for optimal preservation.
