K&F Concept Nano-X Black Mist 1/4 diffusion filter with a diameter of 52 mm. Made of hardened optical glass and covered with special anti-reflective nano-coatings , it provides the highest image quality, free of unwanted glitches, reflections or unsightly tint.

The use of diffusion filters is intended to give the shot a more organic character. Professional cameras and camcorders generate excellent quality images, which, however, may seem too artificial to many viewers. A diffusion filter slightly reduces the contrast of the scene and creates a soft glow around light sources. As a result, the dynamic range becomes larger, and the transitions between dark and light parts of the image are smoother. The Black Mist filter also has a slight effect on the exposure, allowing 84% of light to pass through, which should be corrected by choosing a slightly longer exposure time, a wider aperture or changing the ISO to a higher one. Softening the image at 1/4 will compensate for this loss by allowing for a vivid, natural and more analogue image, which is especially beneficial when working on a film set with many artificial light sources.

A characteristic feature of the Nano-X series are special coatings that improve the quality of the recorded image. They provide protection against unwanted glare and also physically protect the lens from water or greasy stains. Hardened optical glass is resistant to scratches, cracks or chips.
