K&F Concept Nano-X Black Mist 1/4 58mm Diffusion Filter

Created for work on the film set, the Black Mist 1/4 K&F Concept Nano-X diffusion filter with a diameter of 58 mm. It is made of hardened optical glass covered with numerous anti-reflective nano-coatings , which ensures the highest image quality, free of light reflections or unsightly tint.

The use of diffusion filters is intended to give the shot a more organic, analog character. Modern cameras and video camcorders provide images so sharp and full of detail that for many viewers it can be unnaturally digital. A diffusion filter slightly reduces the contrast of the scene and creates a soft glow around light sources. The tonal range of the image becomes larger, and the transitions between the dark and light parts of the image become smoother. The Black Mist filter also has a slight effect on exposure, allowing 84% of light to pass through, which in some situations needs to be corrected by a slower shutter speed, a lower aperture or a higher ISO. Softening the image at 1/4 level will compensate for this loss, allowing for a vivid, natural and more analogue image, which is especially beneficial when working with many artificial light sources - e.g. LED panel lamps, which are characterized by harsh light.

The Nano-X series filters are equipped with special coatings to improve image quality. They provide protection against unwanted glare and also protect the lens from water or greasy stains. There are no stains on the surface of the filters, and fingerprints or other impurities are very easy to remove. Hardened optical glass is resistant to scratches, cracks or chips. Nano-X also offers filters with thin rings. Their aluminium and electroplated frame is only 3.3 mm wide and allows you to work with wide-angle lenses without worrying about an unsightly vignette, while its profiling protects against jamming, making it easy to install and disassemble.

Diffusion filters are photographic accessories, created mainly for filmmakers in the film industry. K&F Concept's Black Mist filters allow you to give your shot an analogue character. They are also used in portrait photography, reducing the visibility of skin pores or fine lines.
