Cokin L G2 Gradient ND filter (ND8) (0.9)

sku : Z121
The Z121 Cokin L graduated neutral density (GND) filter reduces the amount of light in a specific part of the frame, gradually. The Cokin P121 reduces light eightfold (by 3 stops). Graduated filters are larger than standard square filters so that, by sliding the filter up or down in the holder, you can choose which part of the frame the ND effect is applied to.

About Cokin
Cokin is a filter manufacturer founded in 1972. The innovative square filter system created by Jean Coquin in 1978 was the first in the world to offer such easy combining and changing of several filters at the same time. Almost 40 years have passed, but nothing has changed: it is still the most convenient and easiest-to-use system in the world, cloned and copied countless times. Since 2011 it has been part of the Kenko Tokina group (Hoya, Pentax, Ricoh, Nissin).

Cokin Creative System
These filters are designed for use in both the photo and video worlds. The filter is placed in front of the lens to modulate the amount of light, colour, contrast and saturation that reaches the sensor or film. It also lets you control both shutter speed and depth of field. If you often hear "But now there is Photoshop", bear in mind that using filters is a completely different philosophy from software post-processing. Filters are used at the moment of shooting or filming and the results are visible instantly. Using a filter takes a mere 3 seconds, while achieving the desired effect in post-processing can take hours; once you count the time saved, using filters becomes a matter of course. Moreover, time is not the only cost of intensive post-processing: it often requires very powerful computer hardware (especially for video) and expensive software, while the cost of a filter kit is negligible by comparison. A photograph is created at the moment the frame is taken, not in post-processing!

Materials
Cokin Creative System filters are made of CR39® polymer, which is widely used in the optical industry (for example, in eyeglasses). Mainly thanks to its durability and optical light transmission, which is considerably higher than that of polycarbonate (except the Creative System polarizing filter, which is made of glass). Even in the maximum configuration the weight of the filter system is barely noticeable, so working with the camera is as comfortable as before, and the system's low weight burdens neither manual focusing nor the autofocus motor. Changing a filter takes only 3 seconds.

Use
One of the main advantages of the Cokin Creative System is that you do not need a filter for each lens; it is enough to buy an adapter ring for the diameter of the particular lens. The Cokin filter system has three components: the adapter ring, the filter holder and the filters. The adapter ring is screwed onto the lens filter thread, the filter holder is attached to it, and 1-3 filters are placed in the holder in various combinations. The filter system is available in different sizes, depending on the lens filter thread used:

A series: for 36mm - 62mm lenses (size S)
P series: for 48mm - 82mm lenses (size M - the most popular Cokin system)
Z-Pro series: for 52mm - 96mm lenses (size L)
Z-PRO series: for 62mm - 112mm lenses (size XL)

Z121 Cokin M graduated neutral grey (GND) filter
Graduated neutral grey (GND) filters reduce the amount of light in a particular part of the frame (gradually). Often a very bright sky contrasting with a dark subject results in either an overexposed, featureless sky or a subject that is too dark and lacks detail. GND filters solve this problem. The Z121 reduces the amount of light eight times (by 3 stops). The Z121 is "densest" at the top of the filter and the effect drops sharply in the middle of the filter, where it disappears completely. Graduated filters are larger than standard square filters so that, by moving the filter up or down in the holder, you can choose the part of the frame to which the ND effect is applied.

Dimensions:
100x150mm

Each Cokin filter is wrapped in a microfibre cloth, which prevents the filter from being scratched and can be used to clean the filter.
