The 3 Legged Thing Xpand BASE85 OR 38mm x 85mm Plate with QD Socket Orange is a 38 x 85 mm Arca Swiss compatible quick release plate with a built in QD socket and an extendable XPAND connector. You screw the plate under your camera, clip an AXIS strap to it and attach the cheese plates, risers and connectors of the XPAND system. That way you can build your own rig without needing an XPAND L bracket.

Arca Swiss compatible quick release plate

The profile of the plate is the standard size for Arca Swiss clamps. It therefore fits the clamp of almost any Arca compatible tripod head, including those from 3 Legged Thing. At one end there is a slot to run a strap through.

QD and XPAND connections

The plate holds a QD socket with a stainless steel rim, into which you clip an AXIS strap with a QD swivel. It also carries the patented XPAND connector from 3 Legged Thing, which joins the plate to XPAND cheese plates, risers and connectors. The connector extends outwards, so your accessory sits further away from the camera.

Camera screw and rubber pad

The plate is fixed with a stainless steel 1/4" 20 camera screw that you tighten with a coin. The screw sits in a long slot, so you can slide the plate forwards or backwards and the battery door on most cameras stays accessible. Rubber pads on the top keep the camera in place and stop it twisting.

Rear edge and security pins

The rear edge is sloped, so you do not run into the plate on a camera with a flip screen. On the underside there are two stainless steel security pins that stop the plate sliding out of an open clamp.
