Chasing Dory

The Chasing Dory is a compact, portable underwater drone designed as much for pleasure as for work. It records Full HD (1080p) video, has a fast f/1.6 lens and two front LED headlights, and can dive down to 15 meters. It also suits boat owners who need to inspect ports, docks and boat hulls.

The drone is controlled with a smartphone app for iOS and Android that shows the video feed from the camera in real time. The picture and control signals are sent over Wi-Fi between the smartphone and a floating signal buoy, which connects to the drone through a 15 meter signal cable. The buoy stores video and photo files and has built-in GPS. Five propellers control movement, and a feature in the app locks the dive angle at +/- 45 degrees, while the depth lock holds a chosen depth.
