The bellows increases the distance between the lens and the film/sensor plane, producing greater magnification of the subject on the film/sensor plane. This process is similar to moving a projector further from the wall to get a larger image. However, a bellows system is much more convenient than several extension tubes. Fitting extension tubes means removing the lens and experimenting a lot until you get the required result, which means extra dust on the sensor. In addition, the bellows gives much greater magnification than a whole set of extension tubes, so use it when you need it.

The bellows is best used with a tripod for stability and ease of use - it allows smooth and constant adjustment of the distance between your camera and the subject you want to photograph. There is a 1/4" tripod screw on the underside of the bellows. This product is the next step beyond an extension tube set and will be appreciated by anyone who wants to get into macro photography, especially macro photography of plants and flowers. The bellows rail can be extended to a maximum length of 150mm. The magnification ratio is 0.74-2.86:1 with a 50mm lens and 1.32-5.1:1 with a 28mm lens.
