Description

Meike Eco spacer ring set for Nikon
The Meike spacer ring set consists of three spacer rings that significantly improve the macro capabilities of lenses without loss of quality. With the metering system, no exposure compensation is needed. Autofocus will also keep working using the new AF drive.

Ideal for macro photography
This three-piece spacer ring set makes the small world big. The spacer ring is placed between the lens and the camera. This lets you get closer to the subject and makes it larger in the photo. The spacer ring is hollow inside, so it contains no lens elements. It does not change the quality of your lens. Spacer rings work best with telephoto lenses. All automatic camera functions are retained. The set consists of three separate pieces that can be used independently or together. The more rings, the closer you can get to the subject.

How does a spacer ring work?
A spacer ring increases the distance between the camera's image sensor and the rear lens element. This shortens the lens's focusing distance, allowing you to focus closer on a subject. As a result, the subject is projected larger onto the sensor than without a spacer ring. The spacer ring therefore increases the lens's magnification factor. This can be calculated using the following formula.

Please note
Please note that when using all 3 stacked spacer rings, the light loss is approximately 2 stops!

Maximum magnification with spacer ring = lens magnification factor + (mm spacer ring / focal length)

Suppose you have an 85 mm lens with a magnification factor of 0.13. With the 12 mm ring, the lens magnification becomes as follows.
Maximum magnification with 12 mm ring = 0.13 + (12 / 85) = 0.13 + 0.14 = 0.27

With the 20 mm ring, the lens magnification becomes as follows.
Maximum magnification with 20 mm ring = 0.13 + (20 / 85) = 0.13 + 0.24 = 0.37

With the 36 mm ring, the lens magnification becomes as follows.
Maximum magnification with 36 mm spacer ring = 0.13 + (36 / 85) = 0.13 + 0.42 = 0.55

You can also combine the spacer rings. With all three spacer rings, the lens magnification factor becomes as follows.
Maximum magnification with 68 mm spacer ring = 0.13 + (68 / 85) = 0.13 + 0.80 = 0.93
