NiSi Cine Filter 138mm Linear Polarizer

The NiSi Cine 138mm linear polarising filter reduces glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces by filtering reflected, polarised light. It reduces haze in distant landscapes and increases colour saturation in skies and foliage.

Sunlight becomes partially polarised as it scatters through interaction with electrons in air molecules, contributing to visible haze. The filter absorbs much of the directionally polarised reflected light when oriented perpendicular to it. The strongest effect occurs at a 90° angle to the sun.

Unlike a circular polariser, this filter has no quarter-wave plate to convert linearly polarised light into circularly polarised light. It can affect the accuracy of in-camera autofocus and exposure metering, so it is recommended for use without these functions.
