M-BOX - motor drive for LabBox

M-BOX is a motorised module (an accessory designed for the film developing tank LabBox), which automates rotation during film development.

M-BOX is an innovative accessory designed to optimise photographic film development.

It is compatible with the LAB-BOX system, automates agitation during processing, simplifies the process and improves

results.

Key features and design

The product design resembles LAB-BOX; it is made of elegant matt black plastic with orange parts and is compact and portable.
At the top there is a control knob for switching on and selecting the programme, as well as LEDs indicating the charge level.
At the bottom, a silicone cover protects the battery compartment and holds the charging cable.
On the side there is a connector for charging via a USB-C cable.

THREE AGITATION PROGRAMMES

M-BOX allows you to select different agitation modes during the developing process.
Three programmes are available for each stage of the process, from developing to washing.

Motorised, controlled agitation ensures the best possible developing results and guarantees even processing, including the largest and most uniform areas of the negative, such as skies or backgrounds.

Programme 1: Slow continuous rotation

Continuous slow rotation (approximately 40 revolutions per minute)
Recommended for the stop, fixing and washing stages, which do not require high speed.

This programme saves energy.

Programme 2: Intermittent rotation

Intermittent, fast rotation (approximately 80 revolutions per minute)
This programme, recommended for the developing stage, provides better results in terms of development uniformity.

The programme stops for 4 seconds every 16 seconds; this pause improves development uniformity, especially in the more uniform areas of the negative (skies, backgrounds).

Programme 3: Fast continuous operation

Continuous, fast rotation (approximately 80 revolutions per minute)
Recommended for the stop, fixing and washing stages.

It can also be used for developing 35 mm film. This is the fastest programme, but it also consumes the most energy.

Battery charge level

To recharge M-BOX, connect the supplied USB-C cable to the port on the side of the motor.

When charging is complete, the red charging indicator light goes out.

M-BOX runs for approximately 60-70 minutes on a full charge at
maximum speed.

Between 100 % and 25 % charge, the rotation speed decreases (from 85-90 rpm to 60 rpm), but this does not affect the results, as the speed remains above the minimum required for uniform development.

We recommend recharging M-BOX after a few hours every 3 developing processes, or, as a precaution, using the motor when the charge level is at least 50 %.
